25. Oh ****

I'm twenty-five today. As in, years. Of age. Not twenty-fifth on the list of all-time bestselling authors. (As if.)

I don't want to be twenty-five. I had things I wanted to do and be by the time I turned twenty-five and have yet to do and be some of those things. Write a bestseller. Go to Venice. Meet Jeremy Irons. Be more patient. Ask me if I've done and been those things. Er, no.

You know, maybe I'll just be twenty-two forever. That's right: I'm twenty-two. Plenty of time to do and be all of those things now!

Cake for everyone!

One Year On

Sunday was my son's first birthday. And yes, I'm still recovering from the party and the cleaning up and the exuberance of a too-excited baby, but it's deeper than that. I'm struggling to process the basic fact of it. Jeremy has been around for a whole year. How is that possible?

You know how people tell you that you should make the most of every moment with your baby because it's over in the blink of an eye? It's true. I'd probably only add that it feels like an eternity while it's happening, but when you look back you're like WHERE DID ALL THAT TIME GO?!

So yeah. I am in possession of exactly one child. He is twelve months and two days old. He is now fully qualified as a baby.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Weekend adventures

I've been appalling remiss in my blogging this weekend. It was my birthday on Friday, which meant I had barely enough time to sit still all day and night, let alone think of something to blog about over the weekend. Then I spent yesterday recovering, going on a nice romantic drive with Steve to get some fresh air and make the most of the sunny day, and I've barely had a spare moment since.

Whew.

So that's my rather pathetic excuse and I do hope you'll bear with me. Tomorrow, a new week begins, and I shall be back to my old writerly self, full of all the strange and hopefully entertaining things I usually blog about!

How did everyone else spend their weekend? Any exciting stories you'd like to share? I'd love to hear them!

Happy Birthday, Sangu!!

Hi, ladies and gentlemen,

Sangu is in bed (shocker!) and I've got up especially to surprise her with this. Hope you enjoy it.

Sangu is 22 today, which is quite old really. So lets have some pictures of her when she was less old...

Right, I think that's enough embarrassment for one day, to be honest...

Hope you all enjoy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANGU!
xx

Aw, all Grown Up

Today is my little brother's birthday. Not just any birthday, either. Today, Sid turns eighteen, which is, quite frankly, worrying. Not simply because it means I'm pretty darn old too, but because I can't help but feel ridiculously nostalgic.

So, as I'm about four thousand miles from my brother and family, and haven't seen them in about seven months, I feel like I can indulge myself today.

This was Sid many years ago:

This is Sid now [it's his yearbook picture, scanned in and emailed to me by my mother]:

Fortunately for my general well-being, my brother doesn't read my blog. At least, I don't think so. Because I fear that if he knew I'd put, *gasp*, a photo up of his lickle self, he would kill me. Bludgeon me, possibly.

Happy birthday, anyway!
